Mumbai Market Has Eye on Hong Kong Show - There are many overseas and domestic buyers in the market and there is a clear demand for goods, but transactions have been slowed considerably due to the differences in asking and offering prices. The 5-7% increase in the price of rough diamonds at the February De Beers Diamond Trading Company (DTC) sight is the main factor in sellers’ insistence on higher polished prices.

Record Numbers For Twin HK Shows

Kicking off the twin gem and jewellery event, from February 28th to March 2nd at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), the 4th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show featured a vast selection of raw materials, including loose diamonds, coloured gems of all types and pearls of every provenance and colour. The 34th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show opened its doors from March 2nd to March 6th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on Hong Kong Island with a wide assortment of beautiful jewels.
The twin shows welcomed a record number of 4,480 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions, including new additions from the British Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Nigeria and Vanuatu. The show saw a 6% jump in the number of buyers at more than 85,000—from 144 countries and regions, with a considerable increase coming from emerging markets,
